K9 Games Inc. Dog Training Center is now offering classes in Falmouth! Ginny Seavey, owner and trainer of K9 Games, has more than 45 years of training experience.  She offers both private lessons and small classes.

The next training classes by K9 Games will be held at PoeticGold Farm in Falmouth (just 5 minutes from Falmouth Veterinary Hospital!). Click here for the most current class schedule. The Puppy Class is for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months. The Basic Training 101 Class is for dogs 5 months and older. You will begin to shape your puppy's/dog's behavior by using proven positive reinforcement methods. Avoid problems by learning about basic management, reinforcement, and how to build a good relationship with your canine companion. Attention, sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and other basic skills are taught in this 6 week course. Homework sheets and clickers are included. Limited to 4 teams, pre-registration to this class is suggested.

Ginny Seavey started training her first dog in her teens on Long Island, New York. Rowdy acquired his American Kennel Club (AKC) Companion Dog title in just four shows. She continued to show her dogs in AKC shows in NY and after she moved to Maine in 1971. Over the years, Ginny has put many titles on her dogs of various breeds in Breed, Obedience, Agility, and most recently, Obedience Rally, as well as Canine Performance Event (CPE) titles in Agility.

Starting in the early 90's, Ginny became very interested in the use of operant conditioning, counter conditioning, desensitization, and classical conditioning. The uses of these very effective positive reinforcement techniques are much easier and more fun for both the dog and trainer. Ginny has attended many seminars and camps given by nationally recognized animal behaviorists and trainers, over the years, to improve her skills and expand her knowledge of training dogs. She is also an avid reader and is always looking for new ideas to present the "Positive Reinforcement" method to her students. Competition is fun, but her main goal is to teach the pet owner how to humanely shape their dog's behavior to create a wondeful companion that is easy to live with and is welcomed anywhere.
